Memorial Biographies

Obie and Mary Ann Snider, Singing Brook Farm, Imler, PA.  Obie an original member of the Board of Directors of the Pennsylvania Dairy and Allied industries, serviced as Vice President.  Obie was Board President for 32 years and involved for 54 years as an original founder. A former Chairman of Board of Pennsylvania State University, Director and President of Holstein USA, and Director and President of the Pennsylvania Holstein Association.

Raymond F. Witmer, Penn Del Farm, Strasburg PA, the dairy industry was Raymond’s calling.  Raymond was a nationally respected Guernsey breeder with a herd of state and national herd production and show winners.  Most prominent was his pride and joy, Penn Del Vesuvius Glenna, three time national Champion Cow.  Raymond held office and recognized in many dairy-related business circles including FFA, 4-H, County, Pennsylvania, and American Guernsey Association, the Pennsylvania Dairy and Allied Industries Association, and The Lancaster Farm & Home Association. 

J. Scott Wolff, Hollow View Quarryville, PA, A Guernsey breeder and long time exhibitor at the All-American Dairy Show. Hollow View Farm has exhibited every year since 1973(41 years).  Scott served on the Board of Directors of the Pennsylvania Guernsey Breeders Associaion and was instrumental along with Lee Yost of forming the successful "Blue Halter Sale."

H. Francis Kennedy, Valencia, PA, An original member of the Board of Directors of the Pennsylvania Dairy and Allied industries and served on the Board for 25 to 30 years.

Lee Yost, Muncy, Wyno Farm, PA, A national known dairy cattle Judge and promoter of the Guernsey breed.  He was manager of Wyno Guernsey Farm, Muncy PA for 17 years.  In 1941 he was honored as the best herdsman at the Pennsylvania Farm Show.  In 1975 World Dairy Expo presented him with the Klusendorf trophy.  In 1983  he was honored with the American Guernsey Breeders Association with the distinguished Service award.  Lee received the All-American Dairy Show Image award.  For 15 years he served as treasurer od the Pennsylvania Dairy & Allied Industries Association.  Her was also employed by the Pennsylvania Guernsey Breeders Association for 15 years.

Roy K "Bud" Hamilton, Liester Farm, Newtown Square, PA, Bred prize winning Guernsey cattle for Liester Farm, Newtown Square, PA from 1961 to 1997.  He served on Board of Directors of the Pennsylvania Guernsey Breeders association and in 2001 received the Guernsey Walk of Fame award.  He exhibited Liester Farm cattle at the All-American Dairy Show with many first prize winners and Champions.

Bob Smith, Misty Meadows, Bedford, PA, Established Misty Meadows Farm, Bedford, PA in 1952 with a herd of Guernsey cattle which carries his Misty Meadow in the showing today (2014) by his granddaughter (Dr  Beth Clark) at the All-American Dairy Show.  Bob served as Vice President and Director of the Pennsylvania Guernsey Association and Director of the Pennsylvania Dairymen's Association.

J. Lloyd Ebersole, Born and raised on a dairy and hog farm in Perry County. Lloyd was activity involved in sports and 4-H. After graduating from high school , Lloyd worked for three years as a field technician for First PA ABC.  He attended Penn State and first made his mark within the dairy industry when as a senior at Penn State and a member of the Penn State Dairy Judging Team was high individual in the national contest. Following graduation Lloyd was hired by Sire Power as a Sire Analyst.  He rose to Sire Manager of Sire Selection  and then becoming Assistant Manager of Sire Power and Director of Sire procurement.  Lloyd contributed to the dairy industry by serving as President of National dairy Shrine.  He served on the Board of Directors for NAAB, the Genetic Advancement Committee of Holstein USA and was a Board member of Quality Certification Services for National DHIA. Lloyd was active volunteer for the All-American Dairy Show in checking in Guernsey, and selecting classes for the Judging contest. Lloyd was recognized by Sire Power by naming the Sire Housing Facility in his honor.

Denise Lynne Geiwitz Whiting, of Slippery Rock, PA formerly of Volant.  Her biggest accomplishments in life were her grandchildren and she never shied away from a battle.  Denise was born Feb. 14, 1956, at the former Mercer Cottage Hospital to Lawrence, PA - Andrew “Tony” Geiwitz and Arlene Lytle Geiwitz.  She graduated from Wilmington High School in 1974.  Denise retired from the New Castle Post Office as a mail carrier after many years.  She had been involved with the community youth softball league as a coach and umpire.  Denise was an agricultural enthusiast and involved in founding the Mid-Atlantic Milking Shorthorn Society.  She was very active in the Beaver-Lawrence County Dairy Promotion for several years.  In 1996, she became a director of the All American Dairy Show and later in September of 2013, she was honored with the Image Award that is voted on by her peers for the outstanding promotion of the All American Dairy Show.  Her passion was her farm "Designer Gene’s" and showing at the county, state, and national dairy cattle shows.  She also served on the board of the Farmers Cheese Co-op in New Wilmington.  She was a member of the Leesburg ECO Presbyterian Church and had previously been a member of the Pulaski Presbyterian Church.
